The Vehicle They were in, Obviously ..

OUTRAGE! about a shooting in the middle east, because those Jews have had the temerity to defend themselves again:
A spokesperson for the Israeli police said the Bani Odeh family had been killed during a joint operation with the Israeli military. Forces opened fire on the vehicle when they “perceived an immediate threat” after it accelerated, the statement said.
Asked what threat was posed by four young children and their unarmed parents...

The car itself, obviously which could hace contained a bomb.  Still, I expect Nesrine will get another column out of it.

So Open, Their Brains Have Fallen Out...

A police spokesman said they were 'keeping an open mind' as to whether the two incidents were linked.

Gosh, what are the odds?

Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed officers had been called to reports of a burglary at the remote Peak District farmhouse at 3.30pm on Tuesday. They attended the property, on a remote country lane, in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire, and launched an investigation. That was ongoing when reports came in of the second raid at the farmhouse less than ten hours later, at around 1.20am the following day.

Obviously the felon's network was working overtime...

Yesterday the farmer arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was named by locals as Rob Lomas, a 50-year-old divorcee. They said his alleged victim was a talented 19-year-old footballer called Marcus Smith.

He's not a 'victim' of anything. The poor sod arrested for defending his property is the only true victim here.

Police found Mr Smith with fatal injuries inside Mosley Hall Farm and another teenager with a gunshot wound seriously hurt on the road outside. A former pupil at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School, Mr Smith played for Chapel Town FC. Yesterday his 51-year-old mother Kerry, who is understood to work as a nurse, posted a picture of herself with her son on her Facebook page. It prompted comments from friends expressing their heartbreak and sympathy. One wrote: 'We are so shocked and so heartbroken, nothing can express how deeply sorry we are.'

No sympathy for the man who is now behind bars for having no option, I note.

The public aren't behind you on this. They are behind the real victim.

The fundraiser has already raised more than £16,000 of £10,000 target, with more than 600 people donating.

I wonder how much a fundraiser for the dead burglar would raise?

Sounds Like, For Once, It Went Right!

Neighbours said the incident appeared to have been a 'burglary that went wrong.'
A woman, who lives close the farm, said: 'The farm is in a remote location, quite deep in the valley and set back from the main road.
'I suspect it was an opportunistic burglary that has gone wrong.'
One thieving scumbag dead, another (hopefully) injured severely enough to give up a life of crime. A better result for society than the justice system provides.
Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby, of Derbyshire police, said he believed the incident was a 'targeted attack' and there was no wider risk to the public.
'Residents in the area will see an increased police presence in the area for some time as investigations continue and we will provide further updates as soon as we are able.'

Perhaps if you'd had that presence beforehand this wouldn't have happened.

Tone Deaf Policing...

This was the infamous episode where a man chased two burglars who broke into his house, who then crashed. And of course, the police treated him as the criminal.

They haven't - of course! - provided any more information at all. They've simply sought to justify their position, which is 'leave it to the police'.

Which people would be happy to do, if the idle bastards could be trusted to do the job they are paid for...

And Wasn't He Entitled To..?

The sitting judge said he doubted Kerrie's version of events, however, noting that he 'armed himself quickly'.

As would I under the circumstances:

Power had been drinking when he returned home at around 3am to discover his car had been damaged. He believed Kerrie had wrecked the car, and went to confront the teenager, according to The Mirror. The fisherman smashed the front window of the Kerrie home with a rock before entering through the front door. Kerrie told the police that he found a knife by the side of the bed and stabbed Power after his mother was attacked.
He defends himself from an intruder and yet is the one sent to jail..?

After a four year trial nightmare where two murder trials failed to reach a verdict..?

Wow! And I thought the English justice system was poor...

"He's been at it all day rambling on, but never in my life did I think he would go to the school with a meat cleaver."

Another parent, who was the first to call police, said: 'It was an accident waiting to happen. Today he sounded very distressed and he's been using foul language all day. He just sounded incredibly upset and distressed throughout the day.'

Ah, yes, the nutter with the weapon is the real victim here...

'You could hear and see him from the back garden brandishing knives. My husband who works from home ran down the stairs and said he's on the front going into school with a meat cleaver, and I was just on the phone talking to the police straight away and talking through to them until they got here.'

Some other people weren't prepared to wait for that, and tackled the man.

'The teachers acted very quickly and got everybody in the school hall, three men were trying to calm him down, but he was very, very agitated and then he moved further in and then it was seven men who were watching what he was doing and then one of them actually wrestled him to the floor.'

Those men are heroes.

Norton Fitzwarren - Twinned With Uvalde...

...last night, Detective Inspector Neil Meade defended the force's decision to delay their response despite the severity of the attack taking place in a rural village.
'People might say [around 20 minutes is] a long time but obviously we need to risk assess it', Det Insp Meade explained to the Telegraph.

How lucky for you then, that he didn't decide to slaughter the children sleeping upstairs while you dithered on the doorstep.

It's another case of the police demanding no-one arm themselves because 'we're here to protect you' and when you need them...well, we all know now, don't we?

In A Society Genuinely Concerned With Public Protection, A 2x4 Wouldn't Be Our Only Option...

The heartbroken wife of a beloved father-of-three who was savagely stabbed to death by their neighbour in a trivial parking dispute today slammed ‘toothless and ineffective’ police for failing to act on years of threats and abuse after the knifeman was convicted of murder.
As Arslan was today convicted of murder by a jury, Mrs Boorman said that her husband ‘paid the high price’ for the authorities’ inability to protect the neighbours from the killer, adding that the shocking incident was ‘not remotely out of the blue’. Gloucestershire Constabulary have now referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
It's not entirely true that the police did nothing, however. On the day of his rampage, off-duty police officer Stephen Wilkinson - a neighbour of the Turkish killer - tried to stop him.

His only weapon to hand? A piece of wood.
Trial judge Mrs Justice Cutts said she wanted a further psychiatric report prepared on him before sentencing, and set a hearing for two months’ time. She told the killer: ‘I am not going to sentence you today; I am going to sentence you on June 9 when I will have an additional report on you. In the meantime you will remain in Broadmoor.’

Another report? Seriously? What more do you need, love?

Savages...

A 16 and 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, along with 19-year-old Jadan Richards attacked Iderval Da Silva when they saw an opportunity to steal his moped on May 28, 2019.
Today (January 2) the 16-year-old and Richards were found guilty of murder after a trial at the Old Bailey. The 17-year-old was found guilty of manslaughter.
They will be sentenced on February 5.
Utter animals. The only defence against such creatures being a strong societal reaction to such violence.
Sally-Anne Russell, from the CPS, said: “This is a tragic case of a man who died trying to protect his property. However, faced with the youths he was outnumbered.
“Witnesses watched on in horror as the unprovoked attack unfolded. They rushed to Mr Da Silva’s aid after the attackers fled...”
And....that's not what we have, any more. Is it?

Decent people are too scared to tackle thugs because they know the thugs are likely to be armed, and they aren't.

What Don't You Understand?

Rosie Vincent told the hearing: "My brother was not a violent person. He was a father, he was a son, he was a brother. No one deserves to die."
Asked what she wanted to come out of the proceedings, she replied: "Will we ever truly understand?"
Doesn't seem like such a puzzle to me.
He said: "Through the patterned frosted glass I could see a white face. I opened it and it turned out to be a masked man wearing a white grey balaclava with eye holes.
"He pushed the door open pushed me back grabbed hold of my right hand and my right arm and pushed me down and away towards the kitchen.
"The other man behind him ran upstairs to the bedrooms.
"Then he started yelling ‘give me money give me money we know you have got money’
"And I said 'we haven’t got any in the house, we are pensioners, we haven’t got any money', he said 'yes I know you have' and he pushed me into the kitchen.
...
A post-mortem was carried out shortly after the burglar's death on April 4 and was read to the court this morning.
In a statement Dr Simon Poole said: "I concluded from toxicology tests that results are consistent with use of both cocaine and heroin."
There. It's pretty simple to understand. Your parents raised a violent, drug-using criminal who finally ran up against someone who fought back. The coroner understands perfectly.
Mr Harris added: 'There has been a killing.
"I am satisfied that it is not an unlawful killing because of the state of the law and because of the circumstances."
See? It's more like vermin control.

The only sad thing (apart from the fact the poor victim will have to live in hiding for the rest of his life due to the incompetence of the shamelessly non-impartial police) is that he didn't get a chance to rid the world of his equally violent waste of oxygen accomplice.
Rose Lee, Vincent's mother, said: "Why couldn't that gentleman have just stood back like a normal person would have."
Translation: "Why could he have just given in and let my son rob him & his elderly disabled wife?"

Pretty easy to see the rotten apple didn't fall too far from the worm-eaten tree, isn't it?

I Trust Berkshire Coroner Ian Wade Leaves His Door Unlocked At Night..?

A coroner has ruled that burglar Wayne Digby was unlawfully killed by OAP Reuben Gregory, 73, who shot him dead at his caravan home in woodland.
In his inquest verdict after hearing the pensioner's assertion that he was acting in self-defence, the coroner said he rejected that explanation and found that the death of intruder Wayne Digby, aged 48 years, was manslaughter.
We've been here before, far too many times, haven't we, reader?
The shock verdict is expected to be studied by senior detectives who followed the Crown Prosecution Service's decision not to charge Mr Gregory with the killing but instead to charge him with possession of a shotgun without a licence.
So is there some doubt that a vulnerable OAP living in remote surroundings was actually attacked in the middle of the night by a drug-dependant gang of remorseless thieves?

Well, no....
Anthony ‘Tony’ Hearn, of Moreland Close, Colnbrook, pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary today (Thursday) and was sentenced at Reading Crown Court. The 48-year-old was arrested on June 12 and was charged with the offence on June 15.
The offence relates to an incident in the early hours of June 12, when Hearn and another man, Wayne Digby, attempted to enter a caravan in a field next to the Colnbrook bypass. The pair planned to steal from the occupants, with Hearn going equipped with a number of menacing items.
And despite having to show the now-obligatory taking out of an onion for the miscreant, the cop in charge is bang on the money:
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood of the Major Crime Unit said: “There is no doubt that this is a tragic incident for all concerned which has resulted in terrible consequences, including the death of Wayne Digby and our thoughts are with his family.
“However it cannot be ignored that the incident began with a conspiracy to burgle from vulnerable occupants of a remote home and that the co-conspirators were prepared to use force to get what they wanted. Without that intention none of this would have happened.
“The sentence reflects the severity of the offence.”
As did the other sentence; the one passed by Reuben.

Update: Following yesterday's shocking Surrey train murder, there's now a man in custody. But the police statement reads as very odd: "Nothing justified the extraordinary violence that followed..." and "we are now confident to say that this is not believed to be a random assault. In the moments leading to the violent killing, both men appeared to be involved in an altercation lasting three minutes."

Is it just me? Shouldn't they leave the inevitable excuses for the defence? 🤔

Or to bellends on Twitter:

They Had Help In That, Didn't They, DCI Pasmore...?

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Pasmore, from Essex Police, said: "These men put an innocent family though a living hell and subjected them to violent threats in their own home - a place many of us consider as a place of safety.
"A woman and two children were forced to watch as a loved one had their hands bound by the men and what appeared to be a firearm put to his head.
"Fearing for his own safety and the safety of his family, he managed to challenge Robertson, who died of his injuries sustained during a struggle.
"Two of the victims have been forced to relive the ordeal in court and bravely gave evidence."
Yes, it must have been absolute hell. He must have thanked his lucky stars when the police arriv...

Oh.
Mr Wood was arrested on suspicion of murder but later released.
Yes, despite the witnesses and the clear evidence he was assaulted in his own home by thugs, no reason not to compound it by banging up the real victim, eh?

There Are No Words....

Well, actually, there are. And those words are 'fucking useless politically correct police who aren't fit for purpose and should be strung up by their bollocks (if you can find any)', but this is a family blog and...

Oh. Well, it was.
A magistrate defending his family against an armed gang who stormed his home ended up being arrested himself – and accused of a racially aggravated assault.
Police detained Nigel Stringer for three hours and he remains under investigation while the gang – believed to have been armed with a gun, knives, metal bars and a crossbow – were allowed to leave.
Is there a bit of schadenfreude that this is a member of the criminal justice system suddenly realising what all of us who aren't have known for years?

Reader, I'd be lying if I said there wasn't...
The 67-year-old, who has been a magistrate for 26 years, is now standing down to pursue a private prosecution against the men.
But you know what? I totally admire him for this. Not content with just whinging, he's going to fight.
Mr Stringer says justice 'runs in my blood', with his grandfather and parents having careers in policing.
But he said: 'They would all turn in their graves to know that modern political correctness caused my son and I to be taken from our home for defending our family.
'In detaining us the police left my wife and daughters unprotected with some of the gang still in and around our garden.'
Of course they did.

And I'm wondering now if the cops that arrested him had ever come up against him in court, and lost. After all, it seems to be a pretty common thing for uniformed thugs to get the idea they can do as they please.
Yesterday Mr Stringer said: 'This should be a warning to all homeowners that not only are the police unable to protect us, they will actually arrest innocent homeowners who protect themselves, even against an armed and dangerous gang.'
Thanks for the warning, but we didn't really need it. We've seen it happen too many times.
A Norfolk Police spokesman said a file has been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service and Mr Stringer 'remains under investigation'.
I hope there's a few sweaty collars in the CPS & ACPO ranks right now, and not just because of the unseasonable temperatures...

The Best Lack All Conviction....

...while the worst are certainly full of passionate intensity.

Went to get the paper this morning and every tabloid front page is running the story of the 78 year old pension who killed a burglar in self-defence of his home and his disabled wife, with a subtext of 'why the hell are the ever-useless police going to town on him?'.

Yet what are the online broadsheets worried about? Well, of course, it's rights for those who don't care about the right of others, and the safety of the bad and the mad, plus the need to support the feckless.

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, the prevailing mood is of disgust at the topsy-turvey way crime is dealt with in this country:

This should worry the authorities, because the prevailing mood has usually been 'Oh, well, they have a job to do and they know what they're doing...', but increasingly, even law-abiding people are starting to look at the police as 'the enemy', to be avoided at all costs unless absolutely necessary.

Of course, we were here just yesterday, weren't we? And in comments, blogger DumbJon makes a salient point:
"Yep, and no six months on police bail, homes being turned over or being stuck with five figure legal bills either.
Surely the real mystery is how the police intend to investigate without arresting these people? After all, we've been assured that only alternatives are to either immediately write off the death as one of those things, or to arrest everyone within a country mile.
It's almost like the 'Arrest Everyone' policy was an example of lawless thuggery serving no legitimate investigatory purpose whatsoever."
The thugs in uniform with badges, or the thugs in balaclavas with screwdrivers? Increasingly, there seems very little difference. Encounters with both will fuck up your life, and your taxes go towards supporting both...

It's Enough To Drive You To Drink!

Peter Clemenson, 47, of Shoebury Road, Southend, was a teacher at South Essex College until 2011 before he moved to the Lower Basildon Academy.
That's....well, not exactly a step up.
The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) noted how Clemenson picked up his first conviction, for failing to stop at the scene of an accident, in October 2007.
He was also convicted for failing to provide a sample for analysis, resulting in a two year disqualification, a £750 fine and an order to pay £90 costs.
Well, one mistake is understandable, we're all human after ...

Oh.
In September 2012, Clemenson was convicted of drink-driving and banned for three years, and fined £450 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
I guess he didn't learn his lesson the first time.
However, it was his conviction in March last year for possession of a knife in a public place on July 15, 2014, that led to a jail sentence of eight weeks, a £500 costs order and an £85 victim surcharge.
Clemenson also received another two weeks, concurrent, because he failed to surrender to bail.
Well, to be fair, Basildon Academy is the sort of place you may want to arm yourself before attending. Pupil or teacher.
The report said Clemenson’s five convictions suggested a “repetitive pattern of behaviour.”
No shit..?

I Guess Essex Police Have Nearly Lost The Function Of Their Brain Too...

Because of his serious head injuries, Knight was taken straight to hospital and spent three days in a coma.
Doctors even told his family he could have lasting brain damage - but he made a full recovery.
In case you're wondering, yes, this is indeed that case...
Emma Nash, mitigating, said: “He understands that none of this would have happened if he had not chosen to commit this offence.
“He very nearly lost the function of his brain. He really thinks it’s time for a change.”
But Essex Police had no choice but to arrest the victim, right? I mean, it was his word against the..

Oh.
Miss Davison added: “One neighbour said she could see the defendant running away from Mr Sharp when he fell and hit his head.
“He ran off and bounced off the walls.”
So they had a witness, and they still arrested the poor sod?

I Guess Yesterday's Praise Went To Their Head...

...because Essex Police are back to 'normal':
Just a week later Ms Fisher claims she saw her attacker while shopping in Sainsbury’s, in London Road, Southend. She said: “When I saw him again, I couldn’t believe it. I was so scared. I kept my distance but called the police straight away.
“They didn’t come for an hour, which really made me angry, so of course they didn’t catch him.”
Ms Fisher added: “He is a dangerous man and still walking the streets.
“I am telling everyone about what happened to me so that they are aware of the dangers.
“I have lived in Southend my whole life but the level of crime is disgusting now.
“Elderly people are scared and frightened because they don’t feel safe. You never see police on the High Street or the seafront anymore.
“I am scared to get on buses now, in case something like this happens again and that’s not right.”
Well, never mind, what's a random nut whacking old ladies over the head when you've got serious crime to pursue?
The thief then fled with a haul of clothing, cleaning products, electrical items and DVDs, before police arrived.
When officers searched the area, they found a 32-year-old man from Basildon in nearby Broadmayne.
No, no! Not the burglar, silly! The poor bastard who woke up to find the burglar in his house!
A 40-year-old man from Basildon, understood to be the homeowner who confronted and injured the burglar, was arrested shortly before 9am on Saturday on suspicion of assault.
He has been bailed pending further inquiries until Tuesday, October 18.

That Law Of Unintended Consequences (Part 45689087)…

Mr Glanville, 60, from Billericay, was arrested in connection with the murder probe along with a 54-year-old man from Basildon after the death in July 2015 and had been due to answer police bail in May.
Essex Police announced yesterday that the men will face no further action and an inquest into Mr Gallagher's death is due to take place.
It took a year. A whole year!

That’s a stunning new level of utter incompetence and slothfulness even by Essex Police standards, isn’t it?
His widow, Linda, said she had been left "devastated" by his death and has requested the case be looked at again, according to a national newspaper.
The Crown Prosecution Service said: "We have had an application from a family member under the victim's right of review for the decision to be looked at again and we will be doing so."
How is it that someone who breaks into your house and sets about you and your possessions can now be considered a ‘victim’ if you kill him in self defence?

DONA*

The 29-year-old woman was had been (sic) walking her dog on a field behind Pale Meadow Road, near to Severn Street when her dog approached a man’s dog, police say.
Both animals were off-lead their leads. The man’s dog, a white bichon frise, appeared to be scared of the victim’s dog.
The white bichon frise’s owner, who was accompanied by a woman, then took what is thought to be a baton and threatened the victim. He shouted at the victim and then allegedly threatened to hurt her dog.
The duo then walked off in the direction of Pale Meadow housing estate. It happened at about 1pm on Saturday, March 12.
The offender is a white man believed to be in his 50s, of a medium build with short grey, swept back hair. The woman who was with the man is described as white, with shoulder length grey/blonde hair. It is believed she was also in her 50s and was wearing glasses
Now, why would a middle-aged couple feel the need to carry a baton when walking their (identified) dog?

Could it be because police are totally uninterested in attacks on dogs by other dogs, usually of a bull terrier type, even when it often leads to pet death or human personal injury?
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 377S of march 12.
But suddenly they are very keen to identify the people who might have simply felt that, in the absence of any likely action by the authorities, it would be prudent to have some means of self-defence?
