Left-Wing Or Right-Wing – Which Is Better?

There’s only one way to find out! Fi…

Ooops!
A radical social centre is on high alert after right-wing extremists made a secret visit and posted threats online.
Oh noes! But note the phrasing - one is 'radical', the others are are 'extremists'.
The Cowley Club, a “collectively run libertarian social centre” in London Road, is used as a meeting place for radical left-wing movements from across the city.
Now maybe it's me but...do those two things go together?
A message from the nationalist organisation claimed the photographs of the front and back of the building had been secretly taken by two members “on a scouting mission”.
How very 'Special Forces'!

I have no extreme leanings one way or the other, but it always annoys me that left-wing good, right-wing bad. It seems that that makes Stalin better than Hitler.

They use a similar thing when describing rebels in foreign lands; if we like them they're Freedom Fighters, if we don't then they're Terrorists and if we aren't sure then they're Guerrillas.

So Radical equals good, Extremist equals bad...what if we aren't sure? What do we call them? Non-mainstream? Eccentric maybe? Misunderstood? I'm sure these guys have a naming guide somewhere with the answer.

Swanseajock - worry not, "libertarian" "left wing" "right wing", 'tis all but branding, aimed at securing "market share" - the powder in all three packets is pretty much the same these days ... as to whether Stalin "was better than" Hitler, or Mao, or Pol Pot I suppose what it comes down to is whether victims feel better for having been exterminated in the cause of furthering the master race, or "the proletariat" ....

Most hatred towards the left comes from lefty groups who have split apart from or fallen out with their one-time mates.

That's the thing about the left. It is so fond of equality it hates its own kind more than anyone else.

Ah yes, Libertarian Marxism: because sometimes one deranged rationalisation for mass murder just isn't enough.

Meanwhile, I find myself strangely unconvinced over reports of naughty Nazis on the prowl emanating from a bunch of self-dramatising leftist kooks.

...although admittedly of Brighton probably does have a few people who like to wear SS uniform.

Absolute crap. I live in Brighton and you can't take a "secret" photo of the front of the Cowley Club because it faces the London Road.

DJ is wrong about the extreme right (not that the EDL is, with its Jewish and gay groups) - it's the left you have to watch out for in Brighton. Like those vandals who targetted an arms firm for selling weaponry to Jews, whoops, Israel.

Caroline Lucas applauded them and the Palestinian-born judge let them off. Guess where the attack was organised...the Cowley Club.

Yes indeed.

"Most hatred towards the left comes from lefty groups who have split apart from or fallen out with their one-time mates."

Oh, there the infighting is at its most vicious.

"...probably does have a few people who like to wear SS uniform."

*chuckles*

The first mistake is believing that they were actually on different ends of the political spectrum:

No way are they libertarian when they sanction actions such as squatting. They call themselves anarchists but really they are a group calling for more state handouts.

Anyway, with streetview you can see the front and back of their property. Scaaaaaaary!
