Well Then, Mrs Grebovich, You’re Part Of The Problem, Aren’t You?

A nurse has vowed never to allow another family member to be treated at Croydon University Hospital after witnessing a catalogue of errors when her grandmother was admitted to the hospital.
And being a nurse, she should be listened to, surely?
Mrs Coulson, who lives in Arkell Grove, Upper Norwood, was admitted to Wandle ward 1 on February 6, following an eight-hour wait in the accident and emergency department. When Ms Grebovich visited her grandmother the following day she found her distressed and tearful.
She said: “She told me she had been woken at 4am by two nurses who asked her to get out of the bed and into a wheelchair.
“She complied and was then taken to another ward and left in a side room. She tried to ask where they were taking her, but did not get an answer.
“My grandmother was so upset and tearful at being moved the nurses eventually brought her back to the previous bed.
“It is disgusting staff felt it was acceptable to wake an 83-year-old in the early hours of the morning and attempt to move her with no explanation.”
I wonder if Mrs Grebovich has never done that, then?
Ms Grebovich said she noticed a series of failings on subsequent visits to the hospital, including her grandmother’s drug chart stating she had no allergies – when she is allergic to Penicillin – and finding unidentified medication next to her gran’s bed that had to be thrown away.
She said: “I found another patient’s notes in my grandmother’s folder and her bowel chart had not been filled in for two days, even though she was admitted to hospital with a colorectal problem.
“If the patient is not going to be correctly monitored, what is the point of her being in hospital?”
Good point. It's appalling, isn't it, the way some nurses treat the elderly?

Oh. Hang on.
I am not slagging off my fellow nurses, but they [the hospital] need to be aware what is happening on the wards.”
But it was your fellow nurses that carried out the actions, or in some cases, failed to carry out the actions!

'We were just obeying orders' wasn't a get-out clause at Nuremberg - it ain't gonna fly here, either...

Can't stand idiots that 'just obey orders'.

They should be shot.

Feral.

So let's see.

An 83 yr old was admitted to Wandle 1 ward. It is, according to their web-site, a planned surgery ward and therefore has a massive demand for it's beds (failure to provide a bed for a planned surgery patient, which unlike many must be in the specialist area, booked weeks/months in advance is not only unacceptable but raises the issue of fines). So the hospital, being as everywhere short of beds placed this elderly lady in a bed, rather than raise the spectre of family/MSM screaming about 'old lady lying in A&E for hours', temporarily until one became available (probably a death, yes thanks to Tomlinson beds are routinely hot-bedded). Pleasant or acceptable? No, but not a thing any nurse can prevent.

No explanation? I doubt it, even if it was vague platitudes. Medications dispensed to a patient who then chooses not to take them 'left on her locker/table' and then claims she doesn't know whose/what they are (supervise? yes if the patient is incapable, confused, and if none of your other 16 patients need any meds/the toilet/etc./etc.). Allergies? So some junior doctor failed to notice her notes, and both she and 'her daughter the nurse' did not tell him/her on admission.

So we have an elderly lady who was left to manage by her 'nurse' daughter, who now feels guilty (after two days) and demands an apology and lots of cash to assuage her feelings and who points out minor failings which she will be as guilty as any other for doing.

Am I excusing poor care in hospitals? Never! The system is beyond fixing, many (but not even close to most) nurses should be struck off (and I'm speaking as a nurse of 'mumble' years experience who has recently left the NHS 'in disgust'), but this is nothing more than a woman after some 'compo' - guaranteed!

So Miss Grevobitch has decided to make a fuss. I guess that's her right.

But she's a nurse - doesn't she know that some weird shit goes on? As you say, Julia, these things happen, and as Able says, it's not done for fun.

I am not slagging off my fellow nurses, but they [the hospital] need to be aware what is happening on the wards.

"I am not slagging off my colleagues", Dr Mengele went on to say, "but the SS Medical Research Unit needs to be aware of what's happening"

"I am not slagging off my brothers", Mohamed Atta went on to say, "but Al Qaeda needs to be aware of what's happening"

Oh dear me Able - have you tried 'pointing out things' to hospital staff. They are far too busy to listen.
Your verbose excusesw for the hospital just ignore that the patient had crappy treatment.

Here, there would have been MASS sackings!

WTF!!!!

These are not "forgot to turn the matress" problems. They are serious medical errors!

Possibly. The report should be interesting, if the newspaper follows it up.

""I am not slagging off my brothers", Mohamed Atta went on to say, "but Al Qaeda needs to be aware of what's happening""

*chuckle*

"Shit man, THIS is probably THE most important part of the story! "

If it had been in the 'Mail', they'd have included the worth of her house too!

"These are not "forgot to turn the matress" problems. They are serious medical errors!"

One would hope so, though Able offers a possible explanation.
