Never Seen A 'Diet Coke' Advert Then, Ellie?

Ellie Dibben, a 16-year-old advocate, said: "To me, an equal society for men and women would be one where shampoo adverts also include men washing their hair provocatively while frolicking in the shower."
*sighs*
Jo Swinson, the Liberal Democrat under-secretary for women and equalities was particularly worried by the number of girls unhappy with their looks.
"This trend is going the wrong way and should give us all cause for concern. That's why the government's Body Confidence Campaign has been working with the media, advertising, retail and fashion industries to encourage diversity and reduce the harmful effects of gender stereotyping and objectification."
Maybe stop banging on about the 'obesity crisis' then?

Someone needs to explain to this bird that men and women are different.

Mrs Bucko uses some kind of two in one, colour treated, yadda yadda, blah blah, all singing, all dancing shampoo, just like that stuff in that advert that is targeted at women

I use Sainsburys Basics shampoo. It's 35p a bottle and lasts for months.

Maybe Gillette adverts should include good looking women shaving their top lip? Or is her equal world only equal in one way?

Your point about obesity scaremongering is a good one. Especially since despite the anal nature of social commentators to go into just about every detail of the human condition to find 'causes' for particular behaviour, I've not read any yet who mention the constant obesity nagging when they're wondering why girls are slimming themselves sick.

To me, an equal society for men and women would be one where women buy me dinner, they take me to a show, they give me a nightcap and then they bang my brains out.

Only a cooze as witless as Ellie Dibben would think that men take shampoo seriously.

But let's not be too harsh - I have the perfect ad for Elbows and Head shampoo, forming in my mind.

Scene: A steamy shower. A thin man with a moustache is provocatively shampooing his curly hair.

There is a knock at the bathroom door, then a young lady enters the shower with him. "I just love the way you shampoo your hair" she says.

The camera pans out to reveal that the shampooer is John Holmes, in all his glory.

"Ellie" - he says - "now prove that you love me".

So why do women paint their lips an odd shade of red, distort their hair and wear very strange shoes?
Well they dont do they - you rarely see grannies got up like this.
It is a puzzle.

Good point Julia about the Diet Coke ads. They really do objectify men. So do any number of other ads, and they are all invisible to the feminist lobby.

I've noticed this before, this tendency on their part to live in the sixties, or possibly the 17th century, and to re-fight battles that were alive then but now have become just a little bit moribund.
