The Tell-Tale Phrases That Tell Me If I Need To Care…

First, the ambitions of the young man, and the existence of a ‘street name’:
Last night dozens of Joshua’s family gathered outside the house in Bowes Road to lay flowers and pay tribute to the aspiring rapper, known as Money J, who was studying to be a mechanic at Southgate Community College.
Next, the rather convoluted family history indicated by the names of the grieving relatives:
His sister Khy Folkes-Hunnigale wrote on Twitter: “RIP to my brother Joshua Folkes, so much ahead of him. Taken too soon.”
Then, the rather outré modern methods of grieving:
Friend Shanzi Kerrigan, who went to Friern Barnet secondary school with Joshua, had “RIP Money J” tattooed on her arm.
Finally, the semi-literate Facebook ‘tribute’ and the reference to a quasi-military life:
She wrote on Facebook: “Just knowing I ain’t going to see your cheesy grins or smile anymore is heart breaking you are a soldier such a happy person didn’t do anything to anyone. Everyone’s going to miss you Joshua Folkes sleep tight beautiful (sic).”
It’s like ‘Buzzword Bingo’, and in this, we've got a full house!

Thanks for the link.

I think you're being a little harsh, but, since you're making a list, what about 'laying flowers' at the scene?

Actually, judging by the photo, it's not just flowers; a bottle of drink, a pair of shoes and a sports bag seem to have found their way into the tribute.

Anthropologically speaking, it's a fascinating reversion to the concept of 'grave-goods' for use in the afterlife, along with self-mutilation as a public act of mourning (and facebook as an updated version of addressing the spirit of the departed).

Have you notice how hyphenated surnames have gone from being the preserve of the aristocracy/ upper middle classes to that of chavsters and/or mixed race premier league footballers?

I am sorry to hear that his father is to upset to comment.

It seems that in ten years' time, only people with hyphenated names need fear the streets at night.

didn’t do anything to anyone.
Shanzi, shame on you.

A great shame that he could notindiscriminately inseminate women and create some Labour voters.

That's all Folkes.

I think they were the only ones not mentioned!

"Actually, judging by the photo, it's not just flowers; a bottle of drink, a pair of shoes and a sports bag seem to have found their way into the tribute."

It's going to be a head-scratcher for future archaeologists, isn't it?

Yup!
