Well, No. What It Actually Highlights...

...is that if people can get their hands on 'free' stuff, they will:
Tim Nichols, a spokesman for the Child Poverty Action Group, said the fund highlighted inequality throughout the UK.
"It's shocking that a fund set up nearly 100 years ago to help the poorest children with such basic essentials as shoes and a warm coat is in growing demand today," he said.

There are some Geordie "Mams" who need to buy a tobacco leaf shredder (from me for preference!) and a demi john...or at least a food grade plastic bucket. Infact you can brew Super STrength cider in a bin bag using Lidl's apple juice. The level of benefits is high enough that no child should go unfed or unclothed. My 3 never did and I smoked, dranked and ran a car (when not drinking) all the time I was unemployed.

Although, to be fair, the cost of heating now means that some families on the dole are really struggling

(ps Joolz if you'd rather I didn't link in my nick then just let me know or delete it etc)

Very true julia, freeloading is seen as a perfectly respectable smart, clued up way of life, there is no shame in handouts.

Only fools pay full price for anything.

I've been doing a few blog posts on food banks in the last week or so and it's interesting what I've dragged up. Our friends the CPAG actually issue food bank vouchers, in Bristol at least. So they claim an increase in poverty by the increase in referrals to food banks which they themselves make.

Quick enough to satisfy today's instant gratification junkies?

And no, links are encouraged, especially for those with a blog of their own.

How else am I to find new ones? ;)

Thank goodness for 'BOGOF'. That was what you meant?

A perfect storm of rentseeking!
