A frightened mother was trying to protect her baby from a dangerously out of control dog, in what a court heard was not the first time it had attacked.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard this week how the mum was bitten as she protected her young child.
And now the reckless dog owner has been told his pet is in danger of being put down after the latest incident, the Daily Record reports.
Only 'in danger'? It should have been destroyed then and there on the spot! It is, of course, the usual breed:
Keith Smith, 55, had previously been warned over the behaviour of Star, his American Staffordshire bull terrier.
Since 2014, it turns out!
Sentence was deferred until next month when the dog's fate will be decided.
Why the wait? What more is there left to decide? Why do we put up with this excuse for justice and public safety?

If the mutt bit me, it wouldn't need a court order to put it down. Ditto if it bit any member of my family.
The interesting bit is whether or not after seeing to the dog, Smith would be able to turn up to the court. If he did, it would probably be sans bollocks and with a 'Joker' smile.
"American Staffordshire bull terrier" WTF is that? At a guess it's a pit bull cross renamed to avoid the Dangerous Dogs legislation. If you can't fool them with the facts . . .
