A Tory Police and Crime Commissioner who pledged to crack down on speeding is caught breaking a 30mph limit...
Whoops!
...five times in 12 weeks.
/facepalm
The 52-year-old previously admitted the offences, which took place while she was campaigning to be the new PCC as well as after she was elected for the role, at a hearing back in February at Nottingham Magistrates Court.
What does she have to say for herself, then?
Magistrates were told Henry, who is the wife of Broxtowe MP Darren Henry, had written a letter to the court saying she was 'very sorry, embarrassed and ashamed'.
Her defence solicitor Noel Philo said the letter was written on 'advice I did not give'.
Oh dear! Well, don't be too upset, Noel, she doesn't even follow her own advice, never mind anyone else's!
On her official PCC website, Henry listed ensuring an 'effective and efficient' police response to speeding as one of her priorities.
By giving them a lot of practice, one assumes?
In a written statement issued after the hearing, Henry said: 'I cannot comment on the ongoing case. I will be explaining the context of this matter in due course.'
Can't wait!
Though looking at her pictured entering court, I wonder if 'The pie shop was closing early, your honour!' is going to feature heavily in that 'context'...

That bag on her face either contains nibbles, like a horse's nose bag, or else it is locked in place to curtail snacking.
I am sure the weight of her legs may be the cause of the accelerator being pushed to the floor.
The thing is, reckless speeding is dangerous, straying a tiny bit over an arbitrary limit isn't, not even slightly. If she has a good track record of not having accidents I might have some sympathy. However, getting pinged five times in succession while demanding draconian enforcement for other people, well that is just stupid.
'Ensuring an 'effective and efficient' police response to speeding as one of her priorities'.
In an ideal setting with police, this bird of a feather may have been born with the 60" girth. But it's more certain that she never had scruples, shame or principles.
Married to an MP, she obviously feels that speed restrictions apply to the "little people" rather than the political elite.
I wonder if she was elected after being sponsored by her husband's political party. A PCC should be completely apolitical and not try to politically influence the local Police force, fat chance of that, though.
Sounds like the magistrates plan to disqualify her from driving and want her at the court in person. Could be a humiliating session of nose rubbing for the Commissioner. :-D

🤣

I bet she went for the vehicle with great suspension over every other aspect!
"...reckless speeding is dangerous, straying a tiny bit over an arbitrary limit isn't, not even slightly."
It depends where and when, but five times is, frankly, extracting the urine.
"But it's more certain that she never had scruples, shame or principles."
She's made that perfectly plain.

Yes, one recognises the type.
"Sounds like the magistrates plan to disqualify her from driving and want her at the court in person."
Good!
