Apple is making a small but mighty change to Siri in the new iOS 17 - users can drop the 'Hey' and only need to say 'Siri' to activate the virtual assistant.
Just like Alexa then?
Another feature that aims to make life easier is the new 'NameDrop' that lets users easily share contact information by tapping their devices with someone else's.
Didn't they already do this? I'm sure I had an app for this about two phones ago...

Being old school I wish they would bring back the i Pod classic. I'm fed up of losing signals while streaming music

It’s not just a headset though. It’s a complete computer and the images it generates replace the screen. You can work with a virtual screen or screens (or watch movies) bigger than the room you’re in while using zero space for your kit. Brilliant for people living in small spaces or travelling in planes or trains. When the price drops and the early adopters have ironed out any issues I will have one. I have zero interest in VR headsets but — though the press is slow to grasp it — this is different.
Totally predictable and it has been said several times. Steve Jobs was the brains and Tim Cook the gatekeeper. When Steve died the drive to innovate lost its power and the bean counter took over. Steve forced through innovations while Tim stops them all.
The only think keeping them going the last few years, and for a few years yet, is the brand name pull as a fashion accessory and the usage memory that means moving to other systems means learning a new system and most can't be bothered.
What will bring them down eventually is that people simply won't upgrade to the latest models as quickly as they need them to because they will want to keep functionality and just won't see the benefit of upgrading.
As far as VR as game changer. There are several companies already working on these and eventually one, hopefully not Apple, will make a breakthrough and soon kids will be walking into roads busy in VR. That will be our fault as usual.

I still have my old model (with the rotary 'wheel') somewhere. As well as a couple of the little tiny coloured ones.

Oh, I'm smitten, and always have been! I'd be typing on a Mac if it wasn't for the lack of gaming available for it...

The brand is still a powerful one, and will be for some time still, I think.
