The teenager, who had a nut allergy, ate satay sauce, which contains peanuts, but Ms Sloan said they had thought it was curry sauce.
‘It looked and smelled like curry sauce,’ she said.
‘I’m not blaming the restaurant because there was a sign reading 'nuts contained' but it wasn’t noticed.’Well, quite. They complied with the law.
Ms Sloan told the Herald newspaper: ‘I’m so angry. I was not given the EpiPen. I was told to bring her to A&E.’Wait, what? They complied with the law!

Whilst the State is not at fault for the family's culinary misunderstanding, it should be held to blame for the chemist not being able to (legally) give her the EpiPen. No doubt the pharmacist could have given one out but would have been hauled over the coals by the State if they had.
Also, what's the law in Erie about those with a nut allergy carrying their own EpiPen?
In a life and death situation it's stuff the rules, laws or whatever and act! Of course the mother should have had one herself anyway.
Why didn't Doctor Recovery Position write a prescription for an EpiPen, then? Or open an airway?
"Also, what's the law in Erie about those with a nut allergy carrying their own EpiPen?"
Darwin, I would imagine, will sort that out. Eventually.

Good point!

With a sence of smell like that sweetie, NEVER go on a trawler, it could leave you confused for life.
I would quite happily carry such a pen with me to help someone, but the law says I can't.
Is it different in America?
Ooh, I've been edited...
The bit about Fibromyalgia stands, Julia. I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
Know anyone with it?
I do.
Who's 'edited' you?

Aye! I do. And add Alzheimers and Parkinsons into the equation.
We have three cases where I am presently working as a "Demenzkrankbegleiter" (Carer for dementia patients).
THAT is not the problem The problem is that it appears to have become the "get out of jail free card" for every arsehole chav.

and feel a warm self satisfied glow as you queue at the dole office having lost your job
John Tee.
Then so be it!
If I am not allowed to preserve and protect life in an emergency, or any other situation, then the job can fuck off, and I will be PROUD to stand in the dole queue.
It's not the dole queue you need to be worried about, it's the criminal court. Give an EpiPen to the wrong person, and the Daily Fail will be the first to denounce you, "beautiful brave girl dies due to rogue pharmacist"
"He shouldn't have given me the EpiPen" said distraught mother Kylie Minge, "That's why there are rules, innit?"
" ...I will be PROUD to stand in the dole queue..."
... with your family beside you I take it? For myself supporting my family takes precedence over flogging substances known for their regular use to every chav that rushes in off the street demanding them.
known for their regular use
regular use? Gah! Recreational use.

I give priority to supporting my immediate family in preference to strangers. You would loose your job to save a stranger and to hell with your family. Interesting. Easy to take the moral high ground from behind a keyboard.

I am expected to do it every day, I DO do it more times per month.
It is what I am paid for.
As to family, that is personal, the job is important.
