If They Aren’t Believable Or Credible, Why Are They Still Police Officers?

Four officers broke into Mr Fleming’s home on the night of August 6, 2009, following an argument between him and PC Burch (Ed: his neighbour) a few hours earlier about the volume of his music.
He was arrested and charged with a public order offence before being released on bail terms prohibiting him from returning to his three-bedroom home until the case had been dealt with in the courts.
Three months later, the case was thrown out at Southend Magistrates’ Court, which labelled the officers’ evidence “neither believable nor credible” .
In 2011, the Independent Police Complaints Commission later found PC Burch had changed his story from initially telling officers he was in fear of his life, to telling investigators he had called the nonemergency number because there was no threat to him.
He gets £24,000. What do the police officers get? Nothing, it seems.

Well, I feel safer. How about you?

I would imagine that the lawyers for anyone at all arrested by any of these four in future will be bringing up that 'neither believable nor credible' line before the magistrates or judge.

Very funny Melvin, now back in the real world let the grown-ups comment.
This is an interesting story.Reading through the comments it seems that the PC is still at work.If the Met DPS (complaints) are anything to go by if he had committed an offence he would be out of the job.Ours kick us out for farting almost.
A fed rep once told me that 75% of all discipline actions against police are as a result of tomfoolery we do OFF duty not ON,which I can believe.

Still say coppers ain't bent jaded?

Yes RWG,all coppers are bent because of this one story. That thought must keep you warm at night.
Because of Shipman all doctors are murderers, because of Fred West all builders are murderers, get my point.I'm sure whatever industry you are in everyone has always behaved perfectly.

Fulfilling her role with a rightful place in the scheme of things, WC Jaded merits a little credit, Rightwinggit.

How much less we would be inspired by folk with talent were there no idiots to measure them by.

Are you surprised? I'm not.

Jaded I didn't say ALL coppers... adding to statements is naughty!
Do it a lot, do you?

Although in this case, "Essex" is a major clue, they make the Met look like choirboys.

The Met caution:
"Anything you say when questioned will be adorned and gilded to harm your defence and if you say nothing when questioned something will be fabricated and relied on in court."
