Ummmm......

A stabbing in Westcliff by a group of yobs on bikes:
Detective Inspector Paul Ahmed said: “This is an isolated incident and we have had no further reports which we believe to be similar or linked.”
Really? Are you sure? Because not two paragraphs later...
The latest one prior to this incident was a stabbing in Kenway where a man suffered lifethreatening stab wounds to the chest and was taken to hospital on June 12.
In that case, the suspects also rode away on push bikes.
Do you have to be thick as mince to apply to work for Essex Police, or do they provide on the job training?

It's become standard police practice. For the sake of 'reassurance' you have to convince the public that crime levels are an insignificant problem. An issue which should not cause you any concern.
It has become so ingrained in practice that it is routinely spewed out. 'An isolated incident.' 'No threat to the general public.' Etc. Whether this is true or not. It is not seen as being dishonest as it is done for the general good to try and convince people that crime levels are such, the are nothing to concern yourself about.

Standard police practice should be to tell the public the real crime figures. Otherwise nothing will ever change. This is why the media statements are nearly always done by officers climbing the greasy pole of promotion. And us mere plods are told on pain of death not to comment to the press.

(If only you all knew the scale of lawnmower thefts. It would make your hair curl.)

As always, when seconds count, the filth are only minutes away -- after getting on their CFM shoes and painting their nails, of course.

Usually to be founf enabling crapita goons to rob old ladies of their money for TV licence avoidance -- the real 'heavy end' of policing ...

'Crimes' solved by the likes of WC Jaded are confined to hiding in a lay-by with a speed gun.

The clear up rate for real crimes is almost totally dependent on pressing druggies and the vulnerable, into making false confessions.

And I wager you have recovered zero stolen lawnmowers, WC Jaded...only because I doubt your ability to find your own messy bottom with two hands and a map.

Innit, geezer?

"It's become standard police practice. For the sake of 'reassurance' you have to convince the public that crime levels are an insignificant problem."

Efforts that, if they work at all, are immediately undone by looking in the local paper. Or out of your own living room window.

"Standard police practice should be to tell the public the real crime figures. Otherwise nothing will ever change."

We already know them.

"The clear up rate for real crimes is almost totally dependent on pressing druggies and the vulnerable, into making false confessions. "

I'd be happy if they at least did that!
