A spokesman from the fire service said: “He was playing a game with his friends in the woods, pretending to be soldiers with toy guns. He jumped over a log, rolled and ended up with a metal spike through his knee.Which happens in real wars. I guess he doesn’t really want it that real, though?
“It was decided that the metal spike should stay there until he was in hospital. It could have been a lot worse, it could have hit an artery or his head and he could have died.”
It seems impalement is a bit of a problem in the area.
Just over a month ago a cyclist was impaled through his chest by a branch as he cycled down a road in Pulborough.Someone should sort it out. ‘elf n’ safety, innit?

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Actually it's just lighter fluid but we'll take what we can get.
How did the spike get there?
(I could understand a nail, but a *spike*?)
Is that similar to the spikes that eco-terrorists jam into trees in the hope of hurting/killing workers?

Toy guns? If he tried that around these parts he'd get shot for real, maybe... actually, highly likely!
Christmas message from Blackpool's Boys in Kevlar
PARENTS are being warned against putting a replica firearm in their child's hands – as it could lead to them being shot by police.
Insp Louise Leyland, from Blackpool Police, said: "Carrying an imitation gun could ultimately result in highly trained armed officers having to challenge the person carrying the weapon, so naturally we are worried."

Not in Tesco you won't!

The story's an odd one - it isn't clear whether the spike was in a fallen tree or embedded in the ground.

Bound to happen one day!
Yes, noticed that at Leg-iron's earlier. FFS. Is it all of them or just his local, I wonder.
