"'Ere we go, 'ere we go, 'ere we go..."

Women and children may be at risk of domestic abuse during the up-coming European football championships, Avon and Somerset police have warned.
Really? Is there a corresponding rise of domestic abuse on males when Wimbledon's on?

Or a new season of 'Britain's Totally Talentless, Don't Believe Us, We'll Show You!'..?
During Euro 2012, which starts today and runs until July 1, posters and leaflets are being circulated in doctors' surgeries, community centres, shops and other public places giving details of a domestic abuse helpline.
Officers will also be visiting known households to offer help and support to victims and remind offenders how seriously they take domestic violence.
Great! While they are doing that (seriously, how can there be 'known households'?), everyone else is getting a lesser service.
Next Link Domestic Abuse Service director Carol Metters said: "Not everyone who goes to or watches a football match is a perpetrator."
So what's the percentage, then? 10% 5% Less..?
Ms Metters advised people who may fear abuse to try to be out of the house at certain times, or make sure they are not in when a partner returns home after watching a match.
How about making sure they are not in permanently?

Or would that be expecting them to take some personal responsibility, for a change, rather than be the passive, helpless victim who needs to support all these public sector leeches?

This is complete bollocks. No known offenders will be visited. This is typical of the police service these days. Some idiot in charge of Public Protection Bristol has decided he needs to add to his CV and has dreamt up this little communications plan to try and show that he is being inventive regarding tackling Domestic Abuse.
I despair that these idiots are allowed to waste time and energy in this way and should just get on with their jobs.

Ah but you see, football fans are all violent racist morons (and suspected members of the EDL/BNP/NF) So there's bound to be trouble...
And as Brontosaurus said, possible promotions too. ;-)

This old chestnut again?

In the US it has been periodically claimed for nearly twenty years that domestic violence surges during the Superbowl. However, there is absolutely no evidence to back this up.

Almost inevitably it crossed the Atlantic, and there have been similar claims made in relation to major football tournaments although, again, there is no evidence of it.

I am a white law-abiding male football fan. I have never got violent when my team lost. Down certainly on occasion, but that's what comes of supporting a league one team, plus my local non-league side.

My wife is usually glad to get rid of me when the football is on as she can do her wifey things like having long baths, constantly switching channels in the middle of programmes and rabbiting to her friends on the phone.

I know the HRA applies mainly to criminals, less to law abiding citizens and not at all to football fans, but why is this and why do they hate me?

As a reformed lefty I abhor the NF/BNP as much for their racist policies as their lefty shit.

I now believe that their is a genuine attempt by the chattering, graudianista(sic), islintonistatina classes at genocide of the English.

PS As for law abiding I do occasionally have a drink to many, but just end up talking too much rather than any mindless violence.

Again why do they hate me?

Roll up, roll up! Justify your existence! Strike fear into people! You're all going to die! I've got a PowerPoint presentation and I'm not afraid to use it!

I'd like to volunteer for the Next Link Domestic Abuse Service. Any bitches out there need a smack?

The cricket and rugby today were complete shite. Could someone please warn my little lady? I hate soccer but I want to do my bit.

Well, if no time is wasted, great! But he won't be delivering those leaflets and posters himself, will he? Or she?

When I saw this story, I was convinced I'd fisked it before! But I couldn't find it in the archives.

"I now believe that their is a genuine attempt by the chattering, graudianista(sic), islintonistatina classes at genocide of the English."

And they are winning...

"Roll up, roll up! Justify your existence! Strike fear into people! You're all going to die! I've got a PowerPoint presentation and I'm not afraid to use it!"

Spot on!

This is why i am utterly pissed off with the Tories. I voted for them on the basis they were going to rid us of this PC nonsense.

Instead they have come in and wiped the Police Force frontline of all goodwill and carried on letting the Chiefs and their lefty pals causing untold damage. I think the govt. have done it deliberately to help turn people against the police.

The ordinary front-line copper who has to deal with all societies ills also has to be associated with every dumb idea from above.

Waiting for the poster that says....For gods sake woman stop nagging me and let me watch the football....men, you have the right to watch football in peace.

And yet, they've been just as poor as Labour. Can't lay it all on the Limp Dumbs either.

…and a quick search gives me this: http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Crackdown-tackles-match-day-violence/story-16337884-detail/story.html

Which reminds me of this crap we had in Nottinghamshire earlier this year: http://www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk/manenoughwrc

First question: Who is paying for all this?

I think our American cousins call this sort of thing Astroturfing???

I'd love to see the orders issued to police and councils about promoting public order issues during Euro 2012 - because they must be there - this sort of thing doesn't just *pop* into existence.
