The 31-year-old from Oxford was injured at about 11.20am yesterday during a funeral service being held at the Greyfriars Church in Iffley Road.
The service was for 76-year-old Winnie Joyce, a mother of 13 children, grandmother to 64 and great grandmother to 45.Yes. You guessed it:
Her family lives at the Redbridge Hollow travellers’ site, near Kennington, which she helped set up with husband Christopher Joyce.
Emergency services and the police helicopter were called in yesterday to deal with the incident, after crowds of people poured out on to Iffley Road.Lovely!
Police declined to confirm how many officers were sent to deal with the incident.Because the answer is ‘an embarrassing amount, given we made no arrests’…

I notice that the "police are appealing for witnesses to contact them"
I doubt that they'll get any calls from Redbridge Hollow travellers’ site. I also reckon no "neutral" witnesses are going to put their (and their family's) future well-being at risk by offering to appear in court as a witness against a member of the travelling community.
Accordingly, I think we can be fairly confident that no-one will be arrested, charged or imprisoned in this one and that the taxpayer will pick up the bill for the treatment of the wounded scrote and the police time wasted.
the comments on the child abuse report at CIF are superb.
Is this a part of the 'vibrant, multi-cultural society' which makes us all better off? I only ask because this sort of story makes me think about internment camps and I'm pretty sure that isn't what our leaders had mind when they began this experiment in making our lives better through admitting all of the world's scum. You know. To make our society better.
Concentration camps are the best places for gypsies, prior to deportation.
Put them on the moon for all I care, just get rid.
Sterilize the dirty heathens first.
Do keep up:
Go forth and ...
'given we made no arrests’…
That'll be the lucky heather, to be sure.
And how is this newsworthy? After all:
1. Don't you carry a knife with you when you attend a funeral?
2. Doesn't every funeral you attend end up in a huge brawl?
"I doubt that they'll get any calls from Redbridge Hollow travellers’ site."
Well, quite! What is the Irish for 'omerta'?
"the comments on the child abuse report at CIF are superb."
I'll have to have a look!
"You know. To make our society better."
Not working as intended, is it?
"Do keep up"
Ah! The usual Beeb whitewash..
"Don't you carry a knife with you when you attend a funeral?"
Well, indeed! Who doesn't?
