Curiouser & Curiouser…

A dad is calling for a full investigation in to how his son died after being hit by a police car answering an emergency call.
Oh..?
Father-of-two Aston Mclean died instantly when he was hit by the marked police 4x4 as officers responded to reports of a burglary at a motorbike store.
Hmmm....

Well, it's not the first time a member of the public crossing the road has been hit by a ...

Oh.
Aston was hit by the marked police car in Wokingham Road, along with a police officer who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
This gets more bizarre by the minute!
Aston leaves behind his two children, Dejan, 10 and four-year-old Jodice.
*cough*

I hope we hear more of this when the IPCC report. Early hours, with a copper, flattened by police car responding to a burglary; what the hell did he do, run under their wheels?

"Hmmm so police car rushing to burglary and collides with male and police officer on foot coming from scene - doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out. So before you all start blaming the Police and demanding compensation how about you find out the FACTS first - sad loss and condolences to the family, but let's not start blaming people until the report comes out".

I have cut and pasted this comment from the original story.Interesting stuff.
As for the grieving dad (of eight kids,i'm sure they all lived with him and he supported them and paid for all of them),he wants answers and then moans about the delay.Might not get the answer he wants.

A number of possible scenarios here, Julia.

I make a wild guess that some will prefer 'niggardly burglar runs into path of police car to evade arrest'. Anyway, only a lost golly after all...right Jaded?

Fortunately, Mr Williams can be stained with anything the in-house WC can flush from a dubious PNC check.

And his progeny have no sense of grief because they are black, so stand by for educatid plod scoffing, folks!

The grieving dad wants answers, a cheque will be fine.

A sad story all round. Maybe the deceased was the perpetrator, maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately no-one gets closure on this, the grieving is all the harder for that. A death is a death, most creatures grieve.

Dejan and Jaundice. Two names that will figure prominently in any employer's CV pile.

I'm sometimes embarrassed by misremembering the names of people I meet through work and travel in Another Land, because, although I speak that language, my inurement is not deep enough to know all their possible Christian names.

This pales in comparison to the alphabet soup names favoured by some elements of our society, curiously at polar opposites of the economic spectrum (cf Zowie, Moon Unit, various fruits).

I hasten to add that I would immediately employ anyone called 'Moon Unit' or 'kill -9'.

I can think of a few possibilities...
