The Sort Of Chap Who’d Buy A Pig In A Poke…

Miss Sarb Sehmi, mitigating for Barker, of Longwood Rise, Willenhall, said he had been given the dog in a pub.
She said: “He didn’t realise it was a pit bull. Had he known, he wouldn’t have taken responsibility for the dog.”
Really, you acquired a dog in a pub and was then surprised when it turned out to be dodgy? Hmmm. Something of a theme developing.
Judge Michael Morris sentenced Barker to16-weeks in a young offenders’ institution, suspended for 12 months. Barker was also ordered to carry out 160 hours’ unpaid work and pay £500 compensation.
A destruction order was made for the pit bull
Can’t help feeling that’s the wrong way round. But then, how would the dog earn the required £500?

Since I can't see Barker (a rather appropriate name) 'earning' £500 either, I think you question is somewhat moot, Julia.

Maybe the dog could earn the money by rounding up all the local hoods.

By deducting it from the solicitor's fee, for expecting the court to believe such a pathetic excuse.
