'Ello, 'Ello, 'Ello...

....what's goin' on 'ere, then?
Police chiefs have been told to spend less time on ‘diversity’ and concentrate on fighting crime by new Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
In a letter to chief constables, she reprimanded forces for failing to tackle offences such as burglary, car theft, graffiti and drugs. Her intervention amounted to a call for a ‘back to basics’ approach to policing.

Seems Suella has hit the ground running as well!

She said the letter was intended to ‘set out my key priorities for the police and our crime-cutting agenda’.

Let's hope they listen. They didn't to Priti, did they?

The Home Secretary also set out how she wants to increase the number of suspects who are charged with crimes. Latest official figures show crime soared 14 per cent last year to 12.9million offences in England and Wales, but the number of offenders brought to justice slumped to a record low of just one in 16.

I might take issue with the idea that 'justice' is what a lot of them are brought to, but it's a good start, again. Can Liz Truss's Cabinet keep this momentum up?

We'll see.

Don't hold your breath. She also stated police should cut murders by 20%. That's an interesting target and slightly ridiculous.
Playing to the crowd like they all do. Labour will soon announce they plan to cut murders by 30%

If it's just aletter, chances are it will be ignored. She needs to follow up with some sackings and a bit of a restructure

It's all talk though. Unless and until they start actually firing people who divert cops from dealing with crime to learning how to do the time warp nothing much will change.

"Let's hope they listen"

Didn't I see they were demanding more money to do what she wants?

Your title reminds me of the old chestnut about the PC who came home to his police house in Letsby Avenue, to find his wife in bed with three of his colleagues.

" 'Ello, 'Ello, 'Ello " says the copper, but before he can complete the customary " What 'ave we got 'ere, then?" his wife pipes up:

"Don't say hello to me, then".

Goodness me it's almost as if the government want to make being a criminal less attractive. Little if any chance the police will listen after all they might have to do some real work and they certainly won't be doing that anytime soon.

Agreed! 🎵 I've got a little list... 🎵

"Didn't I see they were demanding more money to do what she wants?"

Don't they always? Someone needs to say plainly 'if you can't do it with what you've got, you've clearly been misusing funding...'

"Goodness me it's almost as if the government want to make being a criminal less attractive. "

Only certain types, I suspect...
