On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

As the man flees the scene in Ladbroke Grove, west London, a stab victim can be seen in the background, bleeding from his wounds as police look on.
Doesn't that just sum up the Notting Hill Festival Crime Opportunity?

I can't be the only one wondering why that cop (assuming it is a cop?) seems to be making no effort to chase the man either.

Perhaps that's because not one single media outlet has reported the fact that a policewoman was slashed in the stomach during the wonderful multicultural celebration, perhaps?

I probably wouldn't bother either, in their shoes...

The stills confirm police are present at the scene and we hear that arrests were made soon thereafter. It is ridiculous to make much more of these scenes.

This could prove to be one of those rare occasions where we can all applaud police actions, with the added proviso, that good policing was not compromised by any idiotic arrests.

On a personal note, I feel very sorry for residents obliged to tolerate alien customs and clean up their streets in the aftermath.

In must qualify 'obliged to tolerate alien customs' with 'on this large scale'.

Perhaps the bobby was on his way to arrest someone suspected of a thought crime who had brazenly flouted health and safety regulations while not paying his TV licence.

Priorities first!

Much as I agree with MTG in the first comment you have to admit that the Police guy looking on "seems" to react to the man trying to trip the innocently jogging ethnic chappie".

Come on, it's a only little recreational stabbing. At least they're keeping it between the brothers.

Hope the WPC is OK though.
As you said, bit of a news blackout (fnarr) on that?

Lovely, isn't it? Happens every year in Toronto at our "Caribana" festival. But right now Toronto city councilors are dealing with the high priority issue of imported Pakistani - are you ready? - kite string.

And yet the Dave-Spart-like commnentards over at CiF (who would have a touch of the vapours at banning the NH Crime Fest) want the EDL march banned because of the perceived threat of violence.

@ RG ..

Ahh .. but is it the powdered glass impregnated string, designed for flying "fighting" kites ?

You can give yourself a really nasty cut with that stuff .. I mean, think of the cheeldren .. ;)

No-one thinks that perhaps the cops were looking the wrong way and didn't see the stabbing.

No-one thinks, either, about the wisdom of sprinting after someone in the middle of a potential riot.

The picture was really in England then ?

'Every picture tells a story', though. What does that one tell you?

"As you said, bit of a news blackout (fnarr) on that?"

Indeed. Disgraceful.

"Lovely, isn't it? Happens every year in Toronto at our "Caribana" festival."

And yet the Edinburgh Festival and other similar events go off without a hitch. Telling, eh?

The picture clearly shows they are looking at the fleeing knifeman.

And, which is it? We need
to flood the streets with police to prevent crime, or we need to flood the streets with police but still let crime happen and 'mop up' afterwards?

I'd have thought the police learned that lesson in the riots.

I am happy to play an interpretation game with Old Masters, JuliaM. It is quite a different matter to speculate unfairly or fabricate in a fashion to which plod has become accustomed.

UK police are more than capable of hauling their reputation through the sewers. I am not disposed to providing unnecessary or malicious assistance to compliment their endeavours.

Let us hope this criminal is caught soon.

Clearly a high BMI, possibly addicted to salt, maybe even a smoker, and worst of all carrying several bags which appear to be made of plastic rather than organic free range jute from a sustainable source personally approved by Madame Lucas.

What are the police doing when this sort of criminal is allowed to walk our streets ?

Oh hang on, I just noticed the vulnerable minority with the knife.
