Yes, This Is What Happens When You Don't Pay Your Bills...

A grieving family are heartbroken after a caravan containing the last mementos of a loved one was destroyed by park owners. Carol Jones, 57, from Craylands, Basildon, wept when her beloved mobile home, on Thorney Bay Caravan Park, Canvey, was reduced to scrap metal after it was towed away and crushed
An error? Stolen by those caravan utilising nomadic travellers? Well, no:
…. because of overdue rent.
*sympathy evaporates*
Ms Jones, who admits to owing hundreds of pounds in rent, having not paid the fees since February, claims she was given no opportunity to empty the caravan of her things before it was destroyed.
“I know I got behind on my payments, but I always do catch up.”
The world won't stand still and wait for you to 'catch up'.
Businessman Jeff King, who owns the park, claims the company wrote to and telephoned Ms Jones in May about coming to collect her things, but received no response. He said it was part of an ongoing situation with the family for the past five years.
Mr King said: “We have been dealing with them for the past five years.
“Before it was towed, we sent them numerous letters and phoned them on May 16 saying if they didn’t come back to us we would be taking the caravan off site and scrapping it, which is within the law. They never bothered to get in touch with us to do anything about it until now.”
Oh dear, so sad, too bad...

... the last remaining belongings of her father, who died three years ago... to me they are invaluable.

So you left them gathering dust in a weekend holiday caravan?

The owner of this site is clearly going soft. That Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter is reading way too high for my liking. ;o)

My mates brother bought a sited static a couple of years ago. He paid about £8k for the caravan, and after that he had to pay about £3k a year in site fees.

His thinking on buying it was "Yeah well, it's somewhere to take the kids on a weekend". Except he works all the hours God sends, and not being either a drinker or smoker, his life revolves around work-tea-bit a telly-then bed.

I said to my mate, "Is your kid right in his head, what sort of holidays could you get for £3k a year?".

Anyway, the 2 years he had it, I think he went 2 weekends to it, and decided he wasn't getting his moneys worth, and the £3k could be spent on some right holidays. So He wanted shot of it, and said I could have it (the caravan) for nothing, just take it away.

Well fuck me sideways with a big black dog, what a fucking rigmarole to get this off site. To transfer ownership, unplug all the services and tow it the 150 yds to the camp gates (You're not allowed to do this yourself, oh no, some inbred banjo player has to do this for you) was about £4k!!!

In the end it ended up being crushed, so I do have a little sympathy for the family involved, as these site operators are a bunch of robbing bastards.

Well, indeed! Do these people never think how others might view their excuses?
