Yes, I’ve Noticed That Trend…

John Singleton, the Oscar-nominated director of Boyz n the Hood, has warned of the "latent racism" in the Hollywood studio system, pointing to …
You'll never guess!
…a "troubling trend" of hiring white directors to tell "black stories".
I've noticed a troubling trend too - hiring Earthlings to tell stories about those from other planets. This must stop, people! It's discrimination!
The 2 Fast 2 Furious filmmaker said the commercial success of white-directed "black films" such as The Help and baseball drama 42 was making it "harder rather than easier for African-American writers and directors to find work".
Oh? Well, maybe we should do someth...

Oh:
This year - which has seen box office success for The Butler, critical acclaim for Fruitvale Station, and Oscar buzz for Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave – has been a banner year for black directors.
I guess not.

I take it the bloke playing the race card doesn't understand irony.

As in the "25th Hour" or the "Summer of Sam" by Spike Lee. A couple of minor black characters, two hispanic characters, everyone else is white.

Here'e the cast lists:

Film Noir?

I couldn't give two monkeys - sorry, that's a bit racist, make that just one monkey - about the colour of the director or the actors. Although I'm pretty sure The Color Purple had neither.

I like the Riddick movies because they have space ships, ray guns and shit. Denzil Washington is good in most things, although I wanted to slit my wrists after 30 mins of the God awful Flight. And who could forget Col Powell in Desert Storm 1?

Let's be honest, do the vast majority of the cinema going public really want to watch an endless series of movies about some lo-life drug dealing pimp with his Ho's, his hommies and his blinged up wheels? I don't. Make something good and I'll watch it no matter who made it, or appears in it.

Well shit head, if niggers got off their fat arses and actualy DID something, then maybe the could direct their OWN films (Grow their own crops, Find their own water....etc) But, if all you want to do is sit under a tree, get chased by a lion or two, shit in your own drinking water, and wait for the big WHITE wagon full of goodies from the mighty god "UN," then it is your own fucking fault, isn't it coon?

They never do, do they? That would require introspection.

Not seen the first one, but 'Summer of Sam' was a brilliant movie.

"Denzil Washington is good in most things, although I wanted to slit my wrists after 30 mins of the God awful Flight."

Oh, I thought that one was rather good! 'Book of Eli', now, that was a stinker...
