Maybe The Government Is Getting Something Right After All..?

Seen as one of the country's leading civil rights chambers and led by Michael Mansfield, Tooks worked with the Lawrences on an inquiry into Stephen's 1993 death.
In a statement the firm said: "The dissolution of chambers is the direct result of government policies on Legal Aid.
"The public service we provide is dependent on public funding. Ninety per cent of our work is publicly funded. The government policies led by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling are cumulatively devastating the provision of legal services and threatening the rule of law."
Oh, dear. No more free lunch on the taxpayer while you work to destroy our justice system…

I knew it was worth keeping this graphic around...

The great man establishes his early lead in whatever settlements are ultimately bestowed upon him, Julia.

Lawyers are universally despised, but Michael Mansfield deserves recognition as a gifted English QC.

I'm sure Mansfield will keep the champagne flowing somehow. He and Imran Khan will continue to milk the Lawrence teat along with many, many others.

Oh dear never mind.
Let's not forget this man advised the Lawrences to file a private prosecution against the killers of their son without enough evidence just for self-promotion.And then when he lost the lefties got the law changed on double-jeopardy.

MTG-you are in a room with a lawyer and a policeman and you have a gun with one bullet in it.What do you do?

This is why I like austerity... to see which of the parasites runs out of oxygen first. The bitching and whining while they turn blue in the face is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

East peasy

You shoot the lawyer with the real one and then you pull out the pretend Mark Duggan Special that only those in uniform can see.

Help must be close at hand, WC Jaded. It's a fair bet that the average plod is smart enough to resolve basic logic puzzles and dumb enough to impale a big foot on conspiracy law.

I knew it! JP is Michael Mansfield and I claim my £1000 finder's fee.

The Inquest verdict will be "Suicide".

Wear gloves.....shoot the policeman, throw the gun to the lawyer. They'll pick anything up if it's worth a few quid.

Doesn't work the other way round.....the police can't catch anything.

Nice one JP,apology expected when the inquest is over and Duggan is proved not to be a lay preacher delivering food parcels to the local orphanage.

"Ninety per cent of our work is publicly funded"

That just makes you a parasitic quango.

You know, I think I've just read the first thing the coa-libcon have done of which I unreservedly approve.

Jaded, Duggan's dear old ma had the \nation' in tears with her 'evidence'. The conspiracy / police planted gun nutters are out in force - even here. melv I understand but the others....very sad.

Still Micky mansfield must love it all - more dead IC3 gangsta trials and inquests means more tax payer legal fees for him, then there's the repeat fees / royalties for Lawrence every now and then. Fuck his chambers...Mickey's OK.

And it will be given freely without reservation.

Thing is though, what began as another bad 'un off the streets is becoming ever more iffy with each telling of the story.

I agree with the point you are making John, the police are frightened of their own shadows with cases like this.If they had come out straight away and told the story as it happened then it would have been OK but our position is always defensive when it's a black man shot. Then by being defensive it looks like we have things to hide when it was a good shoot.
Whilst the inquest is going on each borough has a reserve of riot-trained PC's on patrol just in case the "oppressed youth" don't get the result they want.

More's the pity...

Oh, good point.

"MTG-you are in a room with a lawyer and a policeman and you have a gun with one bullet in it.What do you do?"

Well, an empty gun makes a handy bludgeoning tool. And we wouldn't want the lawyer to go too quickly, would we? ;)

"Thing is though, what began as another bad 'un off the streets is becoming ever more iffy with each telling of the story."

End result is still another bad 'un off the streets, though. No matter what the eventual verdict.

Well the IPCC seem perfectly okay with the altered and conflicting police statements and a senior police office has said "that there are no lessons to be learned". So as far as the cops are concerned the verdict is superfluous.

If we're not careful, if we allow the police to dispatch the bad without the most severest of questions... we create the same conditions that allowed Hitler's Brown Shirts to run riot.
