Actually, It's Probably Worth The £20000...

...just to get shot of the worthless waste of oxygen:
The family of a joyrider who was killed in a police chase have been awarded £20,000 in compensation.
Sadly, he's already bred, so a Darwin Award isn't justified.
Lewis' grandfather Peter Howells today slammed the way the case had been dealt by the police force.
He said: 'He was a young man, he had a young baby, and it's ruined our lives.
Well, that's down to his own stupidity in stealing cars and zooming around like a moron until he meets the proverbial immovable object, whereupon his even more foolish decision not to wear a seatbelt caught up with him.

We can only hope the infant hasn't inherited his low IQ from him, as he undoubtedly did from you. Maybe we'll get lucky, and it'll skip the third generation, eh?
'These officers didn't even get a speeding fine, they've had nothing, just a slap on the wrist - this isn't justice.'
Actually, for once, I'm in favour of a slap on the wrist. I don't think they even deserve that.

And I've a bone to pick with the TPA for once.
The compensation payout was slated today by the TaxPayers' Alliance.
Campaign manager Robert Oxley said: 'It is a tragedy that a man has lost his life but that does not justify this outcome.'
No, Robert. It's no 'tragedy'. Quite the opposite. I think we can afford a lot more £20,000 payouts. There's no shortage of deserving customers out there for a quick demonstration of how the laws of physics work...

His choice. The same as it is my choice to smoke.

Slippery slope, Julia.

As with all such settlements it was cheaper to bung these worthless whingers £20K rather than spending thousands and thousands more defending the shameless claim paying out lawyers and all the other costs that would entail.

An all too common tale where any personal responsibility is denied and all the more amazing because the dead shit was involved in a criminal enterprise.

** re your post about the dead burglar in a chimney, a dozen years or so I attended the scene in a West London mansion block where the body of dead burglar was found in the open space between the blocks, jewellery spilling from his pockets and his socks over his hands (whoops).

Not a tear was shed by the initial attending officers but the late thieving bastard's status was soon upgraded to 'VICTIM' by the DCI and from then on the whole thing became a farce. The dead burglar hailed from Peckham, was well known to the police and was of African-caribean heritage! Yup! You guessed it. His family had an FLO appointed! It really did get out of hand.

From the article's comments section:

"The owners of the Fiesta can now launch a civil claim against this thiefs family for the cost of the vehicle which has now been written off - £20,000 should cover the inconvenience."

I am almost certain that some kind individual will undertake the futile gesture of outlining UK Law, vis-à-vis damages/negligence, to confused and ranting plod.

@ anon 11:35 etc
Yup, something to be said for that.

Was that Ealing, by any chance? They still talk about it.

You can see by the image of that upstanding young father, Lee Lewis, the intellect he inherited through his proud bloodline.

Money was taken from us, and .. "awarded to his seven-year-old son Iestyn."

Why is it that vermin show such fecundity? Why, for the same reason that our underclass exhibits it - to manage attrition.

But 'Lethal' Lee Lewis didn't die of malnutrition, or on a battlefield in some far-off war.

He died as a coward, a thief and ne'er do well.

And as he went racing without even a seatbelt, an idiot, just to top it off.

True. But I like the comment anon noted. If only, eh?

"Yup! You guessed it. His family had an FLO appointed!"

GAH!

"You can see by the image of that upstanding young father, Lee Lewis, the intellect he inherited through his proud bloodline."

Indeed.
