Most Of Us Say The Same, Doreen...

At an awards ceremony last night, she said: “Even today when I look at the police I feel that they don’t represent me. When I look at the police I don’t see a force which reflects me or my needs. I saw a black police officer on a motorbike recently and remember thinking that even today that is unusual. There is such a diverse population in London but many of the institutions don’t represent that and that is something we need to change.”
Yes, if we have more cops who look like Ali Diziae everything'll be peachy.

Funnily enough whenever I fly into Heathrow I don't feel immigration represent me.

If that makes me racist so is Doreen.

Oh, I forgot, only whitey is racist.

Here's a flash for you Doreen .. the Police aren't there to "represent" you - or anyone else for that matter. The Police are there to keep the peace, according to the original charter by Mr Peel himself, I believe.

Your "community groups" are there to represent you, and if they cannot liaise sensibly with the Police then you need to take your drum and bang it in front of them and not the Police.

She has many principles to admire and I applaud your regular appreciation of this good woman, Julia.

And I am loath to accept the notion there could be less than a handful of Met employees capable of rising to her standards to thus 'represent' Mrs Lawrence.

But what would she do for a living in someone took her permanent victim status away from her? Get a job? Oh, do be serious!

Didn't somewhere in Africa have a system whereby some institutions were wholly representative of the local community ? Had a special name, began with 'a'....

Or she could move to a country that has demographics that suit her more.

oh wait...then she`ll be just one of thousands of women who have lost children to pointless violence and not by ole Whitey either, and where`s the profit in that?

How did Doreen know it was a black Police officer? Full body leathers; full face helmet; motor cycle gloves. Perhaps the officer was in the nuddy apart from his Police hat? Perhaps he was listening to rap or reggae on his Police radio and had forgotten to turn the volume down? Just the other day, I heard a black man saying that our Police are wonderful and they really do a good job. I thought, "That's unusual. I bet he's not representative of his community." Can I now be interviewed by the Guardian and paid a shed-load of money (and perhaps buy a better wig)?

Are 'we' still paying Doreen & Neville their salaries in effect through the interim payments they get pending any settlement from the MET- which they will never ever negotiate / accept? How does Nev afford his regular return flights from Jamaica? Who pays for Imran Khan and Michael Msnsfirld etc etc?

Thanks for caring Melvin,I commented at 20.31 but forgot to put my name.
As mentioned earlier I have followed this case avidly since 1993 as I have several tenuous connections with the area it happened in and I knew some of the CID involved.Having said that even i'm getting bored with it now.
