I used to live a couple of miles from Waddington and the sound of the visiting XH558 thundering down the runway was unmistakeable... and a joy to hear.

For those that think aircraft like these are merely relics; these celebrated machines are the reason you don't speak Russian and your father didn't fight in World War 3.

I saw (and heard) Vulcan at Stansted twenty several years ago. Amazing.
She took off with a roar and some time later came back and did a low pass before climbing out, the sunlight reflecting off the upper surfaces. I say again "AMAZING" (Miss, can I have a bigger font please Miss??)

There are some aircraft that are just iconic. The Vulcan is definitely on the list.
