I’ll Just Leave This Here, Shall I..?

MP David Amess says he would like to see a monorail built in Southend.
The Southend West Tory told MPs he backed the move during a Commons debate. He said: “Monorails do not seem to be particularly popular in this country, but they do offer another way of getting round our busy cities. I am certainly going to encourage the good residents of Southend to have a monorail.”

Monorails (and trams) are exceptionally stupid.

You're buying into a system with routes that are expensive to change, and which require all maintenance to be done by the manufacturer.

Buses do the same job, are more flexible and also allow you to pick and choose who you go to. It's why buses cost about 1/10th the price of a rail carriage.

If the Simpsons has taught us anything, it's that monorails are not a great idea...

I think most right minded people would like to see David Amess on a monorail going somewhere..........
This is the MP that hid in a shop when attempts to question were made by the local newspaper over expenses - £400 a month claimed on food - and famously tried to engage Prof Robert Winston when he was MP for Basildon in a debate on abortion, and told several times he did not know what he was talking about - and he didn't - said famously 'never mind that I'm representing my constituency' a classic total clown in a safe seat.
